Welcome to Liberty Grove Paper Arts. I am Nancy Akerly, a paper artist passionate about everything paper: Origami, nontraditional paper folding, box making, collage, card making, journal and notebook binding, and creating books. I also teach paper marbling and create unique papers using paste paper techniques. We use our papers to make our own boxes out of bookboard, and to bind books, journals and notebooks.
Here is a listing of my 2013-14 classes, workshops, and shows. Let me know if you would like more information - it would be a pleasure to get to know you; I guarantee you would have fun in my classes!
Great article about two of my classes at Rhinelander School of the Arts:
For the most part I teach through The Clearing, a wonderful folk school in Ellison Bay, Wisconsin, The Peninsula Art School, in Fish Creek, Wisconsin, and the Miller Art Museum in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, but am available for classes wherever we can gather 6 or 8 people who want to have fun with paper!
My business is named Liberty Grove Paper Arts after the township where my grandparent’s farm (now my daughter’s family farm) is located, just north of Sister Bay, WI. That is where, in the summers, I had the time to learn origami, play with ideas and dream big dreams - one of which was to spend all my time playing with paper! Dreams do come true!
